Running Exitilus 2.05
These instruction apply to DOS 2.0+ and Windoze 95 and 98. If you are using DOS, everywhere this document refers
to a folder substitute directory or sub-directory. If you are running 2000, ME or NT you are on your own, please
let me know if you get it running and what you did to make it work. The only thing I think may not work is the
configuration program. I think you can run DOS programs from NT, but I don't know what path they use for drivers
or how to write a CONFIG.SYS for it or even if it uses CONFIG.SYS. I think NT may use a command line to load drivers.
If it does, you can make a batch file EX.BAT to load ANSI.SYS, run EXMENU then unload ANSI.SYS.
These programs are DOS programs. They do NOT create any hidden files or make any changes to the registry. The only
programs that writes to your disk is EX_2_05R (the one you downloaded from my site) as it unzips the files (see
step 2.), EXCONFIG (see step 3.) and of course version 2.05.
This version of 2.05 has all the patches I know about as well as my half way fix to stop corruption of files and
disk. The reason I call it a half way fix is an experienced EXITILUS player or a malicious player can cause corruption.
The experienced player will press the 'Y' to check their status from the Shops and blacksmiths menu without thinking
and this will cause file corruption 1 out of 7 times, more or less. The malicious player will do it to cause trouble.
1.) Download your file to the ROOT directory of the drive where you want play EXITILUS. ( C:\
) The program will create the folders required to run the programs and extract the files to the correct folders.
2.) RUN your file 'EX_2_05R -d' This will extract the files. Please do not forget the '-d' or you will have a mess
on your hands, like a lot of files in your root directory and EXITILUS will not run.
3.) Run EXCONFIG. This will check your CONFIG.SYS for an ANSI driver. If it finds the driver installed it will
tell you 'Your system is ready to run EXITILUS.' If it does not find the driver installed it will look for the
driver and if it finds the driver it will install the driver in your CONFIG.SYS after it warning you it is going
to write to a system file, and ask for permission.
If it does not find the driver it will tell you to install the driver and add the driver to your CONFIG.SYS. Or
you can run EXCONFIG again to add it to your CONFIG.SYS, if you install the driver in either C:\DOS or C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.
In addition I highly recommend PKSFANSI.COM written by the author of PKZIP, it disables changing the keyboard around
(ANSI bombs). Some are harmless, just switching letters around, while others can do real damage. For example pressing
the letter 'k' or some other letter would enter the string 'FORMAT C: /u /n
4.) If you want, you can delete your file from the ROOT folder. This file will be on my web site, unless I am ordered
to remove it.
5.) You can create a shortcut to 'LOCAL.EXE' on your desktop or run it from the folder or RUN it from the RUN command
on the START MENU.
You can also create a shortcut to 'EXITILUS.EXE /M' on your desktop or run it from the folder or RUN it from the
RUN command on the START menu. This will run Maintenance on 2.05 (delete players who have not played for a while,
collect money from investments and interest from bank, reward King, Realm Master, and others.

PS. I do know how to spell windows, it just slows down any system so much compared to DOS. And also causes crashes,
almost as bad as 2.05.
